2. District Nursing.—In my last annual report I stated that
the provision of three district nurses for home nursing was commenced
in October, 1921. The demand for these nurses was
maintained during the year 1924, and has fully justified the formulation
of a scheme for this beneficent service by the Medical
Officer of Health, which was subsequently accepted by the
Governors of the Ilford Emergency Hospital, and carried out by
the District Nursing Committee. A total of 5,665 visits was
paid compared with 4,753 in 1923.
The following is a summary of the work carried out during
the year 1924 :—

SECTION VI.—HOUSING.
Private enterprise is not sufficient to meet existing requirements.
496 houses were completed by this means during 1924,
and a further 405 houses were in course of erection on the 31st
December. The Council has applied to the Ministry of Health
for permission to complete their housing scheme, 356 only of the
504 houses proposed having been erected.

Health :—
