made by deducting 56 deaths of non-parishioners, who died in the
Workhouse, Broad Street; the British Lying-in Hospital, Endell
Street; and the Infants' Home, No. 35, Great Coram Street; and by
adding 130 deaths of parishioners, who died in the several Public
Hospitals and Institutions situated out of the District.
Various corrections must also be made for the Sub-Districts, and
the proper numbers apportioned to each.
These corrections make the actual number of deaths 1,165, which
gives a death-rate for the whole District of 21.8 per 1,000, or a ratio
of 1 in 45.86 of population.
This is the lowest death-rate in St. Giles District of which we
have any authentic record.
The average death-rate for the ten years, 1868-1877, was 24.42
per 1,000.

and out of the District, also the corrected death-rate, will be shown
more clearly in the following tables:—
