The 104 births in the Workhouse, according to the residence of the
mothers, must be thus allocated, viz., 47 to St. Giles South, 7 to
St. George Bloomsbury, 34 to St. Giles North, 10 to the Strand Union,
and 6 to miscellaneous districts.
The following alterations must therefore be made to render the
birth-rate a correct one. 16 births must be deducted from the entire
District, and 57 from the Sub-District of St. Giles South, and 7 and
34 added to the Sub-Districts of St. George, Bloomsbury, and St. Giles
North respectively.
Again, the returns of the births at the British Lying-in-Hospital,
Endell Street, record that only 24 of the mothers belonged to St.
Giles District, therefore 120 births of children, belonging to other
Metropolitan parishes, must be deducted from the entire District, and
from the Sub-District of St. Giles South, 8 must be added to the
Sub-District of St. George, Bloomsbury, and 12 to St. Giles North.
