regarding badly infested watercourses was transferred to a neighbouring
authority. Apparently the measures for mosquito control
must continue until some scheme of land drainage in the south of
the Borough materialises and results in a reduction of so many
open ditches and watercourses.
Closet Accommodation.
A privy closet was abolished during the year and a water
closet substituted therefor at a slaughter house.
Public Cleansing.
There was no outstanding matter to report on this service,
which is carried out under the supervision of the Borough Engineer.
House refuse collected weekly and the method of disposal
is by controlled tipping and incineration. Salvage of saleable
material is ?tised. Modern vehicles are used in the collection
of refuse and a dustbin hire service exists.
Sanitary Inspection.
Details of which are given below, numbered 12,625 during
the year 1935, as compared with 12,503 in ,1934.
I he system of sanitary inspection was reorganised during the
year, inspections of special premises being systematised, and
house-to-house inspections "planned."
