TYPHOID FEVER.
The number of cases notified in the parish during the year was 99, an increase
of 14 on the number of the preceding year.
In the following table are set forth the number of cases notified during the years
1890-95:—

Of the 99 cases notified 95 were persons over the age of five years. The deaths
amounted to 21, all of persons over the age of five years. The type of the disease
was more severe than in the preceding two years, 21.2 per cent. of those attacked
dying, as compared with 14.1 in 1894, and 15.3 in 1893. The attack rate, per 1,000
inhabitants, was 0.81, and the death rate was 0.17 per 1000.
The distribution of the cases, and deaths among the sexes in the four sub-districts
of the parish, are set forth in the subjoined table:—

In addition to the 99 cases notified as typhoid, there were four cases of continued
fever, but no deaths from this cause.
