(d)Inspection of Food Premises.

The following visits have been made to food premises during the year, and where defects have been discovered the requisite steps have been taken to have them remedied.

Rodent Control.
During the year 1,665 premises were inspected, and it was
found necessary to carry out treatment in 131 of these.
71 dwelling houses and 21 premises other than dwelling houses
were treated for infestation by rats; also 25 dwelling houses and 14
other premises were treated for mice.
A total of 2,681 visits were made by the Rodent Operator.
Two maintenance treatments of the soil sewers were carried
out, the first in May and June, and the second in November and
December ; on both occasions 672 manholes were baited.
The Public Health Department and the Borough Engineer's
Department co-operated in carrying out the sewer treatments, the
Borough Engineer supplying the men to do the work.
