number of cases notified was 279 an increase of 30 over the figure
for the previous year. There was a small increase in the number
of cases of scarlet fever and diphtheria, 92 and 63 as compared
with 72 and 46 for the previous year. The number of cases
removed to hospital or sanatorium was 232 as compared with 215
in 1937, and the total deaths from notifiable infectious disease was
<50 as compared with 68 in 1937.
The following table shows the number of cases of disease admitted to the .Joint Isolation Hospital from the various Wards in the Borough :—
