The Average duration of Isolation in the Council's Hospital was
51.25 days. This is somewhat above the average and is accounted
for by the high percentage of cases with chronic discharge from the
ear and nose.
The Chairman of the Hospital Committee placed before the
Council the tabulated estimate of the cost of building and furnishing
the Hospital at White Hart Lane, for which the land was already in
their possession.
It was estimated that the Hospital, which is to contain 44 beds,
and to receive Scarlet Fever and Diphtheria patients, would cost
about £17,634 to build, which, with the cost of the land and fencing
already provided, would amount to an inclusive amount of £19,250,
or £437 10s. per bed.
The Chairman of the Hospital Committee stated that at least
£1,000 would be saved on this estimate, and that, as there was a
sum of £2,760 already provided by the Conncil for Hospital purposes,
the total sum to be provided to complete the Hospital was
£ 14,214.
The Council, however, determined not to continue with this
scheme for the present, but to continue certain negotiations that
had already been commenced with Hornsey.
