Rate of 82.76 per 1,000.
The Amount of Poor Law Relief.—The following Table, No. 12, shewing the proportion of
persons in receipt of relief to the population on or about January 1st, 1919, has been kindly supplied
by Mr. J. Hutton Haylor, Clerk to the Willesden Board of Guardians:—

Mr. Haylor explains that the higher proportion of indoor poor in Willesden as compared with
Middlesex generally is owing to the large number of sick cases which have been admitted to the
Infirmary owing to the dearth of Hospital accommodation and to the large number of children of
demobilised soldiers remaining under the care of the Guardians owing to want of house accommodation.
The Extent to which Hospital and other Forms of Gratuitous Medical Relief are
Utilised.—Many of the large London Hospitals are made use of by Willesden residents, St. Mary's
Hospital and Paddington Green Children's Hospital probably being the most used.
The extent to which Hospitals are utilised may be gauged from the following Table No. 13,
which shews that 6 per cent, of the deaths of Willesden residents occurred in the Municipal Hospital
and 13 per cent, in other Hospitals.

Table No . 13.—Shewing total deaths of Willesden residents and number occurring at home, in Workhouses, or Hospitals:—
