During the year a detailed inspection of the above cowsheds
was made, special attention being directed to the
lighting, ventilation, cubic space, paving, drainage of the
premises, and adequate and suitable accommodation for the
cleansing of cans, utensils, etc. Communications were
sent to the various cow-keepers drawing attention to
instances where their premises fell below the standard
recommended and with one exception alterations were at
once put in hand. Very considerable improvements have
been effected. With regard to the one exception, the cowkeeper,
owing to the expense that would be incurred and to
the uncertainty of his lease on the property, undertook to
give up the keeping of cows at the end of September, 1914.

to the farms in the district, in accordance with articles 13

1899, has on each occasion examined, on an average, 106
cows.
