Common Lodging Houses.—The two common lodging
houses in the district were inspected at frequent intervals
and generally found to be kept in a clean condition and conducted
in an orderly manner. No alterations have been
made during the year with reference to the accommodation.
The following Table, No. 27, sets out the accommodation
in each of the common lodging houses :—

Houses Let in Lodgings.—No alteration has been
effected with reference to the amendment of the bye-laws
relating to the above, referred to in the report for the year
1912. This is a matter which should receive the early
attention of the Council.
Offensive Trades.—With the exception of the trades
of fat boiler and rag and bone dealer no trade of an
offensive nature, as specified in Section 112 of the Public
Health Act, 1875, and Section 51 of the Public Health Acts
Amendment Act, 1907, is established in the district.
Fat boiling is carried on ancillary to the trade of pig
keeping. The food for the pigs, which consists of
wash collected from the hotels and restaurants in London,
is boiled, and, during the process, the fat rises to the sur-
