primaries by shorter intervals. This does not apply, however, to
cases recurring in infected houses within 12 months of the primary
infection of the house.
It may be mentioned that the group of cases recurring at intervals
6-12 months, when subdivided into two groups 6-9 and 9-12 months,
were found in an analysis of several years' returns to give equal
numbers in each group, namely 12 and 12.
The above data relate merely to notifications.
The following table shows in each of the respective years the
number of houses in which there occurred single cases, 2 cases, 3 cases,
and 4 or more cases of scarlet fever, as judged from the notifications
received.
