POPULATION
The Registrar General estimated the civilian population of the
Borough at the middle of 1950 to be 74,180, a decrease of 170 as
compared with 1949.
BIRTHS—BIRTH RATE
The nett total births accredited to the district was 860, a
decrease of 84 on the preceding year. Of these, 466 were males
and 394 females (13 males and 22 females being illegitimate).
The birth-rate for the vear was 11.46 per 1,000 of the population.
The birth-rate for England-Wales for 1950 was 15.8, and for
the administrative County of London, 17.8.
