Number of cases in which milk was granted:—1934, 117;
1935, 225; 1936, 241. Approximate cost:—1934, £248; 1935,
£731; 1936, £776. Grants of Trufood were made in 10 cases, Cow
and Gate in 10 cases, and Allenbury's in 9 cases; while grants of
cod liver oil emulsion and cod liver oil and malt were allowed in
81 and 68 cases respectively.

Dental Treatment.— The arrangements outlined in last year's
Report have operated in a satisfactory manner. There is every
evidence to show that Southgate mothers and children are receiving
adequate treatment at the Eastman Dental Clinic, and I see no
reason to alter the existing conditions.

Part Payment of Midwives' Scheme.— Forty-five applications
were dealt with under this scheme during 1936. 38 awards
were made, totalling £67 0s. 0d.; 1 compensation grant of
£1 1s. Od. was made to a midwife in respect of a patient sent to
hospital. 7 applications were refused as the family income was
above the approved scale.
A slight alteration in the existing scale of assistance is contemplated
in the near future. This will extend the scale and ease the
burden oh those parents with small families. As the Middlesex
