DEATHS OF CHILDREN BETWEEN ONE AND FIVE YEARS.
The number of deaths occurring in children between the
ages of one and five years was 2, as compared with 3 in 1924.
This is equal to a rate of 1.9 per cent. of total deaths, as
compared with 3.4 per cent. in 1924.
DEATHS IN PERSONS OF 65 YEARS AND OVER.
During the year 50 deaths occurred in persons of 65 years
and upwards, as compared with 37 in 1924, giving a percentage
rate of 49.5 per total deaths, as compared with 42.5 per cent,
in 1924.
CAUSES OF DEATH.
The deaths in 1925 included:—
Scarlet Fever Nil
Diphtheria Nil
Typhoid Fever Nil
Pulmonary Tuberculosis 6
Other Tuberculous diseases 1
Measles Nil
Whooping Cough Nil
Diarrhoea and Enteritis (under 2 years of age) Nil
Influenza 4
Pneumonia 6
Bronchitis 11
Heart Disease 12
Cancer 11
Puerperal sepsis Nil
Other accidents and diseases of pregnancy and parturition Nil
Appendicitis 1
ZYMOTIC DEATH RATE.
The Zymotic Death Rate is a term commonly applied to
the rates of deaths from the seven principal zymotic complaints:-
Small Pox, Measles, Scarlet Fever, Diphtheria,
Whooping Cough, Diarrhoea and "Fever," which latter
includes Typhus, Typhoid (or Enteric) and Paratyphoid
Fevers.
No deaths occurred from these complaints during the year.
In 1924, 4 deaths were registered, giving a Zymotic Death
Rate of 0.4 per thousand of population.
