SCHOOLS.
There are four Elementary Schools within the District.
The Kent County Council carries out the Medical
inspection of School children.
During the year investigations into complaints regarding
the sanitary condition of the trough closets and of the ditch
running at the boundary of Birkbeck C. of E. Schools were
made. These matters were brought to the notice of the School
Managers, who are now endeavouring to raise the necessary
funds for the piping of the ditch and for the provision of flush
down closets in place of the existing trough closets.
On no occasion was it found necessary to close a School
in consequence of the prevalence of Infectious Disease amongst
the scholars.
REGULATED TRADES.
DAIRIES, COWSHEDS AND MILKSHOPS.
There are 13 premises registered under the Dairies, Cowsheds
and Milkshops Order and Milk and Dairies (Amendment)
Act, of which three are Dairies, three are Cowsheds and seven
are Milkshops.
During the year 35 visits of inspection were paid, and in
only one instance was a defect discovered.
SLAUGHTERHOUSES.
There are four licensed Slaughterhouses within the
District, to which 41 visits of inspection have been paid during
the year.
No meat has been condemned, but a small quantity was
voluntarily surrendered.
The number of Slaughterhouses in use on the undermentioned
dates were:—

PUBLIC HEALTH (MEAT) REGULATIONS, 1924.
These Regulations came into force on the 1st April, 1925.
The duty of carrying out the provisions of the Order was
undertaken by the Medical Officer of Health and the Assistant
Sanitary Inspector.
