Thomson, C.M.G., of the Local Government Board, and Dr.
Ledingham, of the Lister Institute, continue their invaluable
investigations with regard to these cases, and
numerous examinations of faeces and blood have been
made. The present state of affairs is, that the two
"carriers" referred to are being kept under constant
observation and as far as possible the faeces disinfected.

The deaths for the past year, 1909, 28, equal to 10.14
per cent. of the total deaths registered, against 22 in
1908, and a rate of 10.2.
We disinfect the rooms and bedding, &c., after
those fatal cases, whenever possible.
