Swimming Baths.
Fifteen visits of inspection were made by the Sanitary Inspectors
to the one swimming bath in the district to which the public are
admitted.
Two samples of water were taken for examination, one of which
was satisfactory and one unsatisfactory.
The unsatisfactory sample was due to under chlorination of the
water. The matter was remedied after advice had been given.

Cesspools.

Number of cesspools at 31st December, 1954: —

There were more houses built with cesspools during the year than there were cesspools abolished.

Drainage and Sewerage.

The trunk soil sewerage system is under the control of the West Kent Main Sewerage Board. Branch main soil sewers and main surface water sewers have been provided during the year by the Local Authority, as under:—

(a) Private Estate Development:
672 lineal yards 6in. Foul Water Sewer.
518 lineal yards 9in. Foul Water Sewer.
53 lineal yards 6in. Surface Water Sewer.
123 lineal yards 9in. Surface Water Sewer.
97 lineal yards 39in. Surface Water Sewer.
(b) Council Estate Development:
380 lineal yards 6in. Foul Water Sewer.
345 lineal yards 9in. Foul Water Sewer.
