Inspection of Food Premises.
During the year these premises were subject to routine
inspection and a total of 1,672 visits were made, as shown in
Appendix 1.
Slaughterhouses.
There are nine slaughterhouses recorded on the register of
the Local Authority to which the Sanitary Inspectors made 52
visits.
Annual Licences were granted to thirteen slaughtermen
under the provisions of the Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933.
The following is a summary of the carcases inspected during
the year.
Under Food Control regulations the slaughtering of animals
is carried out centrally and the only slaughtering done locally is
on behalf of pig keeping clubs, etc.

Butchers' Shops.
There are 40 retail butchers' shops in the area, and in no
case was there unsound meat exposed for sale. 178 inspections
were made.
