SECTION 29 - DOMESTIC HELP
The Domestic Help Service has continued to deal with the monumental task of meeting
the demands on its services from the various categories of entitled applicants.
There has been a general increase in assistance given to the chronic sick and
particularly amongst the aged. Assistance to acutely ill persons and to mentally ill
cases showed a slight increase.
The cases under the category of OTHERS include help to harassed mothers and
problem families and eleven cases were helped during the year as compared with four
during 1961.
In May 1961 the County Council adopted a recommendation that for a trial period
of 12 months, free domestic help be provided (irrespective of income) in all cases
