The sampling of food and drugs for chemical analysis is carried out by the Middlesex County Council and the following list of samples obtained during the year has been kindly supplied by the Senior Public Control Officer:—

The incorrect sample of milk was 6.6 per cent. deficient in fat.
and an official caution was given to the vendor.
The incorrect samples of new milk contained added water,
and the farmer-vendor was prosecuted and fined a total £80 and
£20 costs.
SECTION F
PREVALENCE OF, AND CONTROL OVER, INFECTIOUS
DISEASES
(a) General.
Deaths from tuberculosis— these decreased from 27 last year
to 21.
Poliomyelitis— there has been an increase in the number of
cases on last year's figures and the number of deaths increased
to 4.
(b) Scabies.
Six females and children were treated for scabies during the
year.
Clinics are held on Thursday of each week at the Hayes
Cottage Hospital.
(c) Diphtheria Immunisation.
This service is now undertaken by the Middlesex County
Council at the Child Welfare Clinics in the district.
