INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD
(a) Milk Supply.
On 1st October, 1949, new legislation came into force and
the registration of producers of milk and the issuing of producers
licences under the Special Designations Regulations, formerly
dealt with by this Authority, passed to the Ministry of Agriculture
and Fisheries and the Middlesex Countv Council, respectively.

All milk sold in the district is either pasteurised, sterilised or
is that produced by tuberculin-tested cows.
A register is maintained of Dairies and Milk Distributors
(other than dairy farms and farmers) and the numbers shown on
the register are:—

No licences have been revoked or refused.
(b) The Inspection of Meat and Other Foods.
There is no Ministry of Food slaughter house in the district,
but the inspection of meat and other foods in butchers' shops,
grocers and provision dealers, cafes and canteens, forms one of
the Sanitary Inspectors' most important duties. During the year
313 pounds of meat, 159 pounds of canned corned beef or mutton
and 253 pounds of other canned meat were condemned.
