Medical Inspection.
A more comprehensive system of medical inspection has
been adopted this year, whereby all schools are visited in
rotation by the Assistant Medical Officers who examine every
child in the school, irrespective of the routine age groups. This
more thorough inspection with its obvious advantages, was
made possible by the quiet conditions in the borough during
the later half of the year, and has two main aims:—
1. The detection of incipient disease and defects as soon
as possible so that they may be brought under medical surveillance
at the school clinics, and
2. The arranging of medical care and supervision for all
cases of malnutrition, and immediate defects of a major or
minor character.
