SECTION B.—MATERNITY AND CHILD
WELFARE SERVICES.
B(1). Maternity and Child Welfare Scheme.
The details of the Maternity and Child Welfare Scheme
are fully described on page 14 of my report for 1940, with
important alterations under sections (a) and (f).
Two of the four weekly Infant Welfare Centres have this
year been doubled, and of the remaining two one which
formerly functioned twice a month has been altered to a fortnightly
clinic. This is an increase from approximately fourteen
sessions per month to at least twenty-two sessions monthly and
marks a real advance in this important service.
The methods of propaganda now available to the Department
and the latest figures of attendances suggest even with this
recorded development that further extension is mainly a matter
of sufficient staff and adequate accommodation having due
regard to the geographical disposition of the "under-five"
population of the District.
