SECTION F.—INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION
OF FOOD SUPPLY.
F(1). Milk Supply.
The current register of cowsheds, dairies, and milk stores,
records the following figures of registration :
No. of registered farms and cowsheds in the Borough 3
No. of registered dairies 10
No. of milkshops selling milk in sealed receptacles only 34
No. of registered purveyors outside the district 17
31 samples of milk from various sources were obtained and
submitted to the County Bacteriologist for bacteriological
examination as follows:—
Ordinary milk 16
Graded 15
Of the above, two samples of graded milk and one of
ordinary milk were found to be unsatisfactory, and as a result
of action by the Sanitary Inspectors, repeat samples of the
supplies Proved to be satisfactory.

The following table indicates the number of licences issued by the Authority under the Milk (Special Designations) Order, 1*936:—

F(2). Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933.
The Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933, made the use of a
mechanically operated instrument in certain instances a statutory
obligation.
During the year 8 persons made application for renewal of
their licences to slaughter or stun animals in compliance with
the requirements of the above Act.
