SECTION F.—INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION
OF FOOD.
The Staff of the Public Health Department continue to take
keen interest in the inspection and supervision of food supplies.
F(l). Meat.
Owing to the scattered situation of the slaughterhouses in
the District, and irregular times of slaughter, the present system
of meat inspection leaves much to be desired. Supervision by
the Inspectors, however, of slaughterhouses, meat shops and
stalls, and cooked food and other premises, where food is
prepared for sale, has been carried out extensively during the
year, when 2 tons 3 cwts. 1 qr. 22 lbs. of food was condemned
as unfit for human consumption.
The Inspectors keep a detailed record of all meat, etc., inspected and the following table, which is in the prescribed form, shows details of carcases inspected and condemned, during the year:—
