MUNICIPAL FOOT CLINIC
Another step further was taken in the year by the decision to establish
a Municipal Foot Clinic in the Borough at the Weir Hall Maternity & Child
Welfare Clinic. The premises were adapted for the purpose but unfortunately
before the clinic could be put into operation the war broke out.
TUBERCULOSIS ' •

The following table gives details as to age and sex of new cases of tuberculosis, also deaths from the.disease; this latter figure including the deaths of non-notified cases:-

In addition, 25 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis and 3 cases of nonpulmonary
tuberculosis previously notified in other areas, moved into Edmonton.

The cases dying of tuberculosis and not previously notified were:-

There were thus 5 non-notified deaths out ot a total of 69 persons
registered as dying of tuberculosis (Registerar*s figures). Regarding the
non-notification of tho above cases, there vras no suggestion of wilful neglect
or of refusal to notify.

The Public Health (Prevention of Tuberculosis) Regulations, 1925, relate
to tuberculous employees in the milk trade; whilst Section 172 of the Public
Health Act, 1936, gives power to the Local Authority to remove to hospital
certain cases of tuberculosis which are dangerous to other people
No occasion during the year had occurred in which it has been necessary
to invoke these powers.
