Medical Inspection in Schools.
A total of 5,758 children were examined as compared with
7,017 in 1946, and 8,986 parents attended the examinations. The
percentage attendance of parents in the Entrants' group was for
boys 86.5 per cent.; and girls 86.5 per cent.; in the Intermediate
group, boys 58.0 per cent., girls 76.6 per cent.; and in the
Leavers' group, boys 22.8 per cent., girls 34.1 per cent.
The total percentage of parents attending was 69.2 as against
65.4 last year.
783 specials and re-inspections of children were carried out.
