Maternal Mortality (Obstetric Service).
Six deaths occurred of mothers dealt with by the Service,
one in "Booked" cases, five in "Emergency."
The maternal mortality of "Booked" cases, i.e., cases under
the continued supervision of the Service, is 0.58 per 1,000
hospital deliveries, and 0.26 per 1,000 total deliveries, including
the Municipal Midwives "Booked" cases.
Puerperal Infection.
Thrty-nine cases were treated in isolation for puerperal
infection, 15 of them in the Borough Hospital, 24 in St. Mary's
and Mayday Hospitals. There was no death.
