CLASSIFICATION OF NEW PATIENTS.
Pulmonary Tuberculosis.

During 1941, 140 new patients were examined at the clinic and were found to be in the undermentioned stager of the disease on the first examination:-

T.B. minus (sputum negative or absent)50 or 25.7%
T.B, plus 1 (early cases, sputum positive)6 or 4.3%
T.B. plus 2 (intermediate cases, sputum positive)64 or 45.7%
T.B, plus 3 (advanced cases, sputum positive)20 or 14.3%
140 or 100.0%

This is 6 more than in 1940.

In 1941 the death rate from all forms of Tuberculosis was 0.59 per 1,000
population.
The rate for Pulmonary Tuberculosis was 0.49 and the rate for Non-Pulmonary
Tuberculosis 0.10. Similar figures for 1940 were 0.74, 0.64, and 0.10.
