Diphtheria.
115 cases were admitted with a diagnosis of Diphtheria, an increase of 12
cases on 1940. Of these 16 were found not to be cases of Diphtheria and 40
were cases of positive swabs without clinical symptoms leaving 59 cases of true
clinical diphtheria.
There were 3 deaths, a mortality of 5%.

The following complications and sequelae occurred amongst the diphtheria
cases:-
Rhinorrhoea 3
Secondary sore throat 1
Albuminuria 3
Heart failure 4
Adenitis 4
Paralysis:-

Eyes 2
Diaphragm 1
