Rats and Mice Destruction.
Wherever rate arc found advice is given to the persons concerned
and in the event of no action being taken by the occupier notices are
served end followed up, The number of visits made during 1941 was 3065.
Food Supply.
The supervision and inspection of the food supplies is carried out by
18 of the district inspectors who are qualified in food inspection.
The Public Slaughterhouse3 arc under the control of the Superintendent
who also acts under the supervision of the Chief Sanitary Inspector.
During the year there were 13,587 animals slaughtered for human
consumption.

In addition to the premises in the above table, there are the
following food premises, referred to in other paragraphs of this report:Slaughterhouses
and dairies, cowsheds and milkshops on the registers,
Further, there are a large number of stalls and barrows used for food
purpose is in different areas in the Borough and forming street markets.
are. also barrows and other vehicles which are used by hawkers, etc,,
for the soiling of foodstuffs, but it is difficult to estimate the actual
number in use, as this varies daily. All these barrows and vehicles,
wherever found, are inspected by the food inspectors,
A watch has been at especially for street traders who frequent
the public Elementary School: hen the children are going in and coming
out, and who trade toys, sweets, etc., for old clothing.
Food Control Enforcement.
The Ministry of Pood contribute the sum of £600 per annum for work
carried out by the Sanitary Inspectors on their behalf, the Chief
Sanitary Inspector being the Chief Food Control Enforcement Officer.
During the year the Sanitary Inspectors have, carried out the

and to advise re Price Control Orders 2,921
