The 1939 showed that houses of 1-3 rooms formed 4.7% of the total
number of houses in Croydon; those of 4 - 5 rooms 51.4% and those with over 5
Cements on the Incidence and Prevalence of Inectious Disease
Scarlet Fever was less prevalent than in 1939: the largest incidence has been
Norwood, whitehorse Manor and Upper Norwood Wards.
The incidence rate of Diphtheria was 0.34 compared with 0,81 in 1939,
No cases or smallpox occurred during the year.
There were 44 cases of Puerperal Pyrexia; 18 occurred in the age group 16-25
years and 18 in the age group 26-45 years. A majority of the cases occurred in
women having their first confinement.
