The whole carcases condemned were affected as undernoted:—

In no cases had legal proceedings to be taken against the owner
of any diseased or unsound meat. The large quantity destroyed
was voluntarily submitted to the judgment of the Inspector, who, in
case of doubt, consults the Medical Officer.
OFFENSIVE TRADES.
Only three such trades are now carried on in the Borough, viz.,
one by a knacker and two by a gut-scraper. The premises have
been visited from time to time during the year and found in a
satisfactory condition. One of the premises occupied by a gutscraper
was newly erected during the year on land belonging to the
Corporation in Factory Lane.
SLAUGHTERHOUSES.
There are 16 registered Slaughterhouses and one licensed
Slaughterhouse, in addition to the Municipal Slaughterhouses at
Pitlake.
