The provision of open spaces, where the populace, both young
and old, may take recreation, is a necessity, both from the point
of view of health and mental well-being.
Throughout the district the Council has provided facilities
both for those who desire the peace of beautifully laid out parks,
and those who wish to take part in games and sports. In the
latter connection the appointment of Games Wardens at
Marlborough Park and Mottingham Sports Ground have been
much appreciated by the children.
During the year work has proceeded in connection with the
layout of Hoblingwell Wood, St. Paul's Cray, where provision has
been made for organised cricket and football.
