UNEMPLOYMENT.
I am indebted to the Manager of the local employment
exchange for the following information with regard to unemployment
in the area during 1956:β€”
β€œThe position in Chislehurst and Sidcup during 1956
remained very good. Unemployment among men was very small,
and, except for the over 60's and disabled, the periods of
unemployment have been short.
Unemployment among women has been negligible, and either
ill-health or domestic commitments have accounted for practically
all of it.”
