(a) Stained portion contained oil and copper. Baker warned.
(b) Contained minute amount of matter resembling coke. No action.
(c) Roll spread with margarine not butter. Vendor successfully
prosecuted.
(d) Cake flour labelled "with egg" contained (1.3% dried egg)
insufficient to justify claim. Manufacturers undertook to increase
amount of egg in product.
(e) Bakewell Tart contained spots of dirt in pastry and on icing. Baker
warned.
(f) Lead very slightly in excess of limit. Manufactured in Australia.
Importers informed.
(g) Piece of glass in wrapped ice cream. Manufacturer notified.
(h) Small mould particles in cream layer of South Devon Milk. Matter
taken up with bottlers.
(i) Contained 9% added water. Vendor successfully prosecuted.
(j) Fruit content of Strawberry and Apple Jam (31%) low. Manufacturers
notified.
(k) Pork sausagemeat. Meat content of two samples slightly below
former standard. Further samples satisfactory.
(l) Pork Sausages. Meat content slightly below old standard. Further
samples satisfactory.
(m) Pork Sausages contained an excessive amount of fat (36% to 34%
lean). Manufacturers notified.
(n) Orange drink contained only 3% whole orange. Ministry have matter
under consideration.
