One sample of new milk was found on analysis to be slightly
deficient in fat, but not such as to warrant legal proceedings being
taken.
One sample of separated milk on examination was found to
contain 15.8 per cent, of added water, and the Vendor was fined
10s. and costs 10s.
One sample of butter was found to contain 91 per cent, of
foreign fat, and the Vendor was fined £3 and 10s. costs.
One sample of margarine was also found to contain 91 per cent,
of foreign fat, and the same was also sold to the Inspector in an
unlabelled wrapper. Vendor was fined £2 and 10s. costs.
All these proceedings were instituted by the Kent County
Council.
During the year there were also forty-three examinations made
by the County Inspector of the weights of coal, all of which were
found to be correct.
House Refuse Removal. The collection of the house refuse
by our own workmen has again worked well, and the dust has been
collected regularly.
The cost this year has been nearly £30 more than last year,
but this accounted for by the circular letter of the Local Government
Board respecting Infantile Diarrhoea, for during the months
of September and October the house refuse was removed twice in
each week instead of only once from the smaller houses in the
District.
Having regard to the fact that the number of houses from
which house refuse has been removed has materially increased since
1906, the steps taken by the Council must be regarded as very satisfactory.

The amounts expended during the past six years are as follows:—
