GREAT BRITAIN.
The following table of diseased meat, discovered by the inspectors in consignments
from various parts of the country, is largely an indication of the continued lack of satisfactory
inspection in private slaughterhouses.

IRELAND (SOUTHERN).
In consignments from this country, diseased meat is still found, but the authorities
show every desire to eventually establish a thoroughly reliable system of meat inspection.
Considering the unsatisfactory condition of Irish Consignments, which were observed previously,
there is a very marked improvement, both in quality and freedom from disease.
The Supervising Veterinary Meat Inspector has visited Smithfield Markets often, in order
to observe our system of inspection, also the faults of his inspectors with regard to carcases,
etc., found diseased here.

The number of private slaughterhouses in which meat intended for export to Britain was prepared has been very largely reduced in order to ensure better supervision.
