one year of age in the several sanitary areas of London, the following table has been prepared:—

With a view to the consideration of the effect of social condition, as indicated by the extent
of " overcrowding," on the rates of infantile mortality at different periods during the first year of life,
the following table has been prepared, in which the rates of infantile mortality obtaining for groups
of districts (arranged on the basis of the amount of "overcrowding" shown by the census of 1901) can
be compared:—
