It will be seen from the foregoing table (comparing the corrected death-rates) that in the quinquennium
1903-7 among the several sanitary areas the City of London (1.08) had the highest cancer
death-rate and Greenwich (083) the lowest; in the year 1908 St. Pancras (1.17) had the highest,
the lowest obtaining in Fulham (0.79).
The following tables (a), (b), and (c) show the deaths during 1908 (366 days) in each of the
sanitary districts from cancer at several age-periods under three headings, viz., sarcoma, carcinoma, and
cancer, deaths classified under the last-named term being those for which the information given on the certificate
of death was insufficient to further distinguish them for purposes of classification.
