Measles.
The deaths from measles in the Administrative County of London during 1908 (53 weeks)
numbered 1,524, as compared with 1,801 in 1907 (52 weeks).
The death-rates from this disease per 1,000 persons living in 1908 and preceding periods have
been as follows:—

Inasmuch as the birth-rate has not been constant during these periods and the proportion of
population in the early years of life has diminished in recent years, the death-rate of children under
five years of age deserves to be stated. The following table shows the death-rate from measles of
children at this age in successive periods:—
