The Public Health (Milk and Cream) Regulations, 1912.
The following is the Report of Administration in connection with the above
regulations, asked for by the Local Government Board in their circular of
27th October, 1913.

Nature of preventive and action taken: —
Milk. 0.046 boron trioxide, equal to 7.1 grains per cent, of crystallised
boric acid. Fined Is. and 12s. 6d. costs.
Cream. 0.203 boron trioxide, equal to 0.36 grains per cent. of crystallised
boric acid. Fined £l 10s. and £1 3s. costs.*
,, 0.08 boron trioxide, equal to 0.142 grains per cent. of crystallised
boric acid. Fined nil, 12s. 6d. costs.*
,, 0.07 boron trioxide, equal to 0.124 grains per cent. of crystalised
boric acid. Fined 20s. and 12s. costs.

2. Cream sold as Preserved Cream.
(а) Instances in which samples have been submitted for analysis to ascertain if
the statement on the label as to preservatives were correct—

(b) Determinations made of milk fat in cream sold as preserved cream. None.
(c) Instances where (apart from analysis) the requirements as to labelling or
declaration of preserved cream in Article V (1), and the proviso in Article V (2)
of the Regulations have not been observed. None.
(d) Particulars of each case in which the Regulations have not been complied
with, and action taken. Nil.
3. Thickening substances.
There was no evidencs of the addition to cream or preserved cream of any
thickening substances.
