V.-FOOD.
FOOD PREMISES.
The licensed slaughter-houses, cow-sheds, and dairies have been inspected
from time to time. The markets and market streets were kept under observation,
and were also visited on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings during the summer
months.

BACTERIOLOGICAL EXAMINATION OF MILK.
Following upon the experience as to ice creams, as set out in the Annual
Report for 1898, during the year 1899 fifty Samples of Milk were bacteriologically
examined by Mr. Walter C. C. Pakes, and the following were the results :—
May 10th, 1899.
W. G. A. 1. Apparently normal. No increase of leucocytes. No tubercle
bacilli found.
