In March Miss Vines resigned her appointment, after a year and eight
months' service, and Miss Safford was appointed in her place in June. At the
beginning of March Mr. Grice resigned his appointment after a service of seven
years, and in his place Mr. Landen was appointed in May, and at the end of
March Mr. Kershaw resigned with three years' service, and was replaced by Mr.
West in May also. In September Mr. Fulton resigned with over twenty-one
years' service and a pension, and in November Mr. Lonnon was appointed in
his stead.
On the 19th July two temporary Sanitary Inspectors were appointed for a
period of three months to make inquiries as to tenement houses for the purpose of
registration. They commenced their duties on the 31st July, and the period of
three months expired on the 31st October.
As the result of an inquiry by a Special Committee, it was decided on the
10th May to appoint two additional Inspectors for the inspection of animals, food,
and food places, and the sampling of food and drugs. In October Mr. Warwick
