Diarrhoea nomenclature.—Various synonyms have been used in certifying
diarrhoea, and these have been variously classed.
The Registrar-General has classed as diarrhoea the following terms: —
Diarrhœa.
Epidemic Diarrhoea.
Intestinal or Enteric Catarrh.
Gastro-intestinal or Gastro-enteric Catarrh.
And as diseases of the Alimentary Canal the following terms : —
Gastro-enteritis.
Muco-enteritis.
Gastric Catarrh.
The Royal College of Physicians have recently recommended the disuse of
these synonyms by the medical profession, and have authorised the use of the
term " Epidemic Enteritis," or " Zymotic Enteritis," with a view to uniform
classification.

The Notifiable Infectious Diseases.—

The number of deaths from this group of diseases in the Sub-Districts, and the proportions per 1000 of population and per 1000 total deaths, were as follows :—
