DEATHS.
During the year 1899, the corrected total number of deaths from all causes at
all ages was 4971, being 313 more than during the preceding year, and 186 above
the annual average of the preceding ten years. Per 1000 of the population the
death-rate was 20.4, compared with 19.1 in the previous year, and an annual
average of 20.1 in the preceding decennium.
