COMPARATIVE MORTALITY OF THE SUB-DISTRICTS.
In comparing the mortality of the Sub-districts take firstly the birth-rates and
death-rates.
Per 1000 Population.
Sub-Districts. | Birth-rate. | Death-rate. | Excess of Birth-rate. |
---|---|---|---|
Regent's Park | 28.5 | 19.5 | 9.0 |
Tottenham Court | 28.9 | 20.7 | 8.2 |
Gray's Inn Lane | 30.3 | 24.0 | 6.3 |
Somers Town | 35.4 | 25.5 | 9.9 |
Camden Town | 30.8 | 18.6 | 12.2 |
Kentish Town | 32.2 | 17.2 | 15.0 |
Somers Town has the highest birth-rate and the highest death-rate, but the
lowest excess of births appears in the Gray's Inn Lane sub-district, and the highest
in the Kentish Town.
Again, compare the deaths in another form to the births as follows:— Per 1000 Births.
Sub-Districts. | Under 5. | Total Deaths. | Natural Increase. |
---|---|---|---|
Regent's Park | 245 | 684 | 316 |
Tottenham Court | 273 | 716 | 284 |
Gray's Inn Lane | 297 | 800 | 200 |
Somers Town | 286 | 684 | 316 |
Camden Town | 255 | 703 | 397 |
Kentish Town | 212 | 535 | 465 |
The highest relative number of deaths both under 5 and at all ages occurs in the
Gray's Inn Lane sub-district, and the lowest in the Kentish Town, and they hold
the same relative position as to natural increase. The natural increase figures are
the excess of births over deaths per 1000 births.
