CONVULSIVE DISEASES OF INFANTS.
There were 187 deaths of children under one year of age
from convulsive diseases, equal to 24.8 per 1,000 births and
161.4 per 1,000 of total deaths under one year.

VIOLENT DEATHS.
The corrected number of deaths due to violence was 157, of
which 128 occurred from accident or negligence, 6 from homicide
and 28 from suicide. Burns and scalds caused 9 deaths, and
40 children under one year were suffocated. These numbers
are slightly below the average.
