Deaths
The number of registered deaths which took place in the Borough
during the year was 4,143 but 1,051 of these did not belong to the
Borough, while 2,130 Borough residents died outside the Borough.
The corrected number of deaths for the Borough, after allowing
for these factors, was 5,222 of whom 2,422 were males and 2,800
females.
The crude death-rate for the year was 14.9 compared with 14.4
for 1962, but after taking into account the area comparability factor
supplied by the Registrar-General, the adjusted rate works out at
11.8. The death-rate for England and Wales as a whole was 12.1
and for London 12.4.
Table II shows the total number of registered deaths and the
death-rates for each division based on the approximate population
in each division.
